I think for psychological warfare they should make you listen to BOSE or RADIO SHACK!!!![]()
Scroll down to about the middle of the page to get to the Viet Nam War section(Psywarrior).I don't think they used Altecs in the Viet Nam War I can't find any real pictures of any although that doesn't mean there weren't any few and far between I think .Movies don't count, that's just Hollywood !

Being of "Sound" Mind
Movies don't count, that is true. Movies use what props are available.
All i can say is:
1. I was in California seeing a big array assembled was told headed for Vietnam.
2. As the war wound down, I was offered incentives to move lots of 290's since military orders were gonna stop for them.
Were Altecs used in all apps? For that I have to ask, is every car sold a Cadillac?
If anybody finds proof what I was told is wrong, I'd like to see it. But "can't find anything" doesn't impress me. Lots of Altec stuff it's hard to find info on.
Anyway, till some proof I am wrong surfaces I refuse to discuss this any more. If wrong I am quick to admit it and apologize.
I haven't seen a shred of evidence I am wrong.

Some other versions, additional infos, pics and corrections.
Psyops:
Two more pics of a Psyops/Psywar Huey eqipped with loudspeakers (horns).
Those are re-entrants, look like Ev's, but there is a VERY similar Atlas.
But NO WAY that is gonna sound clear ten miles away.

Here are the scans I did earlier. Pgs from Electronics World magazine, and the 1968 Altec catalog page for Giant Voice. Unforunately, not much in detail for the Giant Voice. This is taking forever. If the attachments fail to show, I'll put them on Flickr and post the links. BTW, I have no axe to grind on this matter, and I'm pleased to see what all of you have added to this thread.
Picture upload apparently failed

Perhaps moderator can imbed photos
And yes, concur with re-entrant horn Closest looking Altec is 151, but who knows. Other strange looking ones in other photos.

Your host says all rights reserved when I try to copy image location Greg.Had to resort to skullduggery. (I love that word)
Is there anything you can turn off? Labeled Copyright maybe?
Photobucket doesn't do that. Or else the default is off.
But that system isn't what I was talking about. specifically the systems I was talking about were for copters.
Most Giant Voice installs were custom.
There isn't a whole lot of data on the Beachmasters either. 9x 2 inch Western Electric drivers.
